This weekend marked the return of the Training Center Throwdown contest in New Castle, DE. The weather forecast kept changing the days leading up to the show and with this being an outdoor contest, we prepared for the worst. We switched things up a little and had the farmer’s walk and tire flip go first, instead of the traditional pressing event first. The max circus dumbbell press followed and rain looked like it was near at the start of this event. Kelly Plush set the women’s Delaware state record with a 100lb dumbbell press. Then thunder rumbled as Nicolai Myers set a new middleweight Delaware state record with 200lb circus dumbbell press. Brian Alshrue then brought the lightening with a heavyweight state record of a 220lb circus dumbbell press.
It didn’t rain too bad as we saw the rising weight basket deadlift take place. It was a crowd pleasing event for sure! Atlas stones rounded out the contest. The skies cleared and winners were announced. Kelly Plush won the women’s open division. Sean Dougherty won the middleweight 200lb class division. Cameron Gilmore won the middleweight 231lb division and Brian Alshrue won the heavyweight men’s division. As always I’d like to thank all the helpers that made this another great contest. As well to a big thank you to our gracious host, The Training Center!
